01
The Timeline
Every market is different, but most campaigns follow this pattern.
Weeks 1–2
Setup
We connect analytics and tracking to your website and submit every page of your site to Google Search Console. There’s nothing you need to do for this part.
Your first report records where you stand today. If it shows you aren’t in the map results or on page one yet, that’s normal. It’s the starting line that every later report is measured against. If your website is brand new, it typically starts appearing in Google within 1 to 4 weeks.
Months 1–2
Foundation
This is the groundwork that makes ranking possible. We post to your Google Business Profile as part of your campaign, and we keep your business details consistent so Google trusts them.
Rankings often look flat during this stretch. That doesn’t mean nothing is happening. The work is running in the background, and it takes time for Google to notice and respond.
Month 3
First movement
Month 3 is usually the first point where you see rankings start to move. Look for the up arrows in your monthly report, especially on the searches closest to what you sell.
Months 3–6
Steady progress
In competitive markets, consistent movement typically takes 3 to 6 months. Calls and leads usually follow ranking improvements by about 4 to 6 weeks, so rising rankings are the early sign to watch.
After that
Building on it
SEO compounds over time. Once you rank, you keep showing up without paying for every click. We keep working the campaign, and your monthly report shows the movement month over month.
02
What Affects Your Timeline
Why one business moves in six weeks and another takes six months.
Your competition
How many businesses like yours are nearby, and how established they are. A busy metro area takes longer than a small town.
How new your website is
A brand-new site first has to be discovered and indexed by Google before it can rank for anything.
Your Google reviews
How many you have, and how often new ones come in. A steady stream beats a burst.
Recent photos
Real, recent job photos on your Google Business Profile are one of the strongest ranking signals.
Consistent business details
Your name, address, phone and hours need to match everywhere online. Mismatches can take weeks to sort out.
Where you’re located
Map results favor businesses close to the searcher, so you’ll rank sooner near your address than across town.
03
How You Can Speed It Up
The four things on your end that make the biggest difference.
Ask every customer for a review
After every completed job, send your Google review link. Ask everyone, not just the ones you think loved it.
Reply to every review
Positive and negative. A short, genuine reply is all it takes, and Google treats it as engagement.
Upload job photos
Add a photo to your Google Business Profile after every job. The more recent and real, the better.
Tell us about changes
New phone number, address, hours or services? Let us know right away so we can update everything.
04
How You’ll Know It’s Working
What to look at, and when.
Your monthly report
Keyword rankings, search impressions and website clicks, with changes from the month before. The trend over several months matters more than any single month.
Not sure what a number means?
How to Read Your SEO Report walks through every metric in plain English.
The order things happen in: impressions grow first, then rankings move up, then clicks, then calls. If impressions and rankings are climbing, calls are usually 4 to 6 weeks behind.
05
Common Questions
My rankings haven’t moved after the first month. Is something wrong? βΌ
No. Months 1 and 2 are foundation work, and flat rankings are normal during that stretch. Month 3 is usually the first point where things start to move.
My ranking went down this month. Should I worry? βΌ
Small ups and downs from month to month are normal, especially early on. Look at the trend across several months instead of a single report. If something looks off, ask us and we’ll explain what’s going on.
Why does a competitor show up above me? βΌ
They may have more reviews, a longer history, or be closer to where the search happened. The things in section 03 are the best way to close the gap, and we work on the rest.
Can you speed it up with ads? βΌ
Ads put you in front of people right away but stop the moment you stop paying. Many businesses run ads for leads now while SEO builds in the background. If that sounds useful, reach out and we’ll talk through what makes sense for you.
