Section 01
Two Ways Your Business Shows Up on Google
Your report tracks both separately because they work differently.
When someone searches for a service like yours, Google shows results in two distinct areas. Understanding the difference helps you read the report with confidence.
Map Pack
The box of 3 local businesses near the top of Google results, usually with a map. Powered by your Google Business Profile. Most people click one of these three before scrolling further.
Organic Search
The traditional blue link results below the map pack. Powered by your website’s content and SEO. Builds long-term visibility and captures searchers outside your immediate area.
Why both matter: When a customer sees your business twice on the same search page — once in the map pack and once in the regular results — it builds significant trust and dramatically increases the chance they contact you.
Section 02
What the Position Numbers Mean
Lower numbers are better. Position #1 is the top result.
| Position | What It Means | Map Pack | Organic |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Top result — maximum visibility | Best possible | Excellent |
| 2 | Second result — very high visibility | Very strong | Very strong |
| 3 | Third result — solid visibility | Good | Good |
| 4–10 | Page one but below the top 3 | N/A for pack | Decent, improving |
| Not in pack | Not appearing in map results yet | Building toward this | N/A |
| Not ranked | Not in top 20 organic results yet | N/A | Early stage |
Note: Rankings are checked from a neutral location near your service area — not from your own device or address. This reflects what a typical customer actually sees, which is more accurate than searching yourself.
Section 03
The Visibility Score (0–15)
One number combining your map pack and organic positions into a quick read.
Each keyword gets a Visibility Score showing how dominant your business is for that search. Maximum is 15 — achieved by ranking #1 in both map pack and organic simultaneously.
| Score | Color | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | Green (10–15) | Strong presence — ranking well in both channels |
| 6 | Yellow (5–9) | Moderate presence — showing up in one channel, building toward both |
| 2 | Red (1–4) | Early stage — limited visibility, SEO work is actively underway |
| 0 | Gray (0) | Not yet ranking — new keyword or very competitive term |
Scoring: map pack #1 = 10 pts, #2 = 7 pts, #3 = 4 pts. Organic #1–3 = 5 pts, #4–7 = 3 pts, #8–10 = 1 pt. Your average score across all keywords appears at the top of the rankings section — watch that number climb over time.
Section 04
Monthly Change Indicators
How your positions changed compared to last month.
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ▲ +2 | Moved up 2 positions. Lower numbers are better in SEO, so moving from #5 to #3 shows as +2. |
| ▼ 1 | Dropped 1 position. Small shifts of 1–2 are normal. Sustained drops over multiple months are worth discussing. |
| — | No change from last month. Stability is a good sign for competitive keywords. |
| New | Less than 30 days of data. No comparison available yet — check back next month. |

Common Questions
The things clients ask most often.
Why are so many keywords showing “Not in pack” or “Not ranked”? ▼
Completely normal in the first few months. Building map pack visibility takes consistent work — citation building, review accumulation, content development, and time. Most businesses see meaningful movement between months 2 and 6. Keywords showing “Not ranked” in organic are actively being targeted through ongoing content and link building.
My rankings looked different when I searched myself. Why? ▼
Google personalizes results based on your location, browsing history, and past interactions with your site. When you search for your own business, Google essentially knows you and often shows your site ranked higher than it actually is for a typical customer. Our rankings come from a neutral location with no personalization — a more accurate picture.
How often is this data updated? ▼
Keyword rankings are checked every Monday morning and the report updates automatically. Google Business Profile data also refreshes weekly. Search Console covers a rolling 28-day window. The “Last Updated” date at the top of your report shows exactly when the most recent pull happened.
My position dropped 1–2 spots. Should I worry? ▼
No. Small fluctuations of 1–2 positions week to week are completely normal — Google constantly adjusts its algorithm. What matters is the trend over 60–90 days. If you see a drop of 5+ positions sustained over multiple weeks, reach out and we’ll investigate.
What’s the difference between Clicks and Impressions? ▼
An impression counts every time your website appeared in Google results — whether clicked or not. A click only counts when someone actually visited your site. The ratio between them is your Click-Through Rate (CTR). High impressions with low clicks often means your listing title or description could be more compelling — something we optimize over time.
Why does my Google Business Profile section show no data? ▼
This usually means your Google Business Profile hasn’t been connected to our reporting system yet, or your listing is being verified. If your GBP is active on Google Maps but showing no data here, let us know. For brand new listings, Google can take 2–4 weeks to start populating performance data.
